Poor man seeking justice against land usurper

Farah Awan

ISLAMABAD: The law and order situation has worsened and rate of corruption is increasing in many cities of the country. Every powerful person tries to usurp the rights of the poor who do not have strong background and nobody is ready to redress their complaints.

Even the police department neglects the laws in the case of a poor person. Performance of the police officers in small cities is poorer. They don perform their duties honestly and no action is taken against the mafia.

Most of the people, who are affected by the police, are illiterate. They are not provided relief when they go to higher authorities to seek help. Nowadays they come to the district courts of Islamabad to give an application for seeking help from the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

While talking to The Post, Shekha said, I am a poor man and living at village 58/KB, district Vehari. I had purchased two acres of land at my village under installment system. When I planned to take its possession after having paid full amount, Muhammad Yar Langrial, a landlord of my village, threatened me and occupied my land by force.

He said the landlord and his sons are already involved in many land occupation cases and they taken benefits from the higher police officers by greasing their palms. He further said, I went to his brother Malik Raheem Bakhsh Langrial for the settlement of the dispute but Muhammad Yar Langrial refused to listen to his brother.

Raheem Bakhsh Langrial, who also came to Islamabad with Shekha, told The Post, I requested my brother to vacate the land of this man. Following exchange of hot words, he fired at my son Nazir and injured him. I rushed to the police station Machiwal of Vehari district and asked SHO Rai Akram to register an FIR against my brothers sons but he refused to do so. He said, Vehari SP Investigation Nasir Aziz Virk has done nothing. No progress has been seen in this regard. When the poor man and I went to seek justice from the Luddan police, SHO Khizar Haraj firstly asked us to give some money then he will look in to the matter. But Shekha is a poor person and also can afford to give them money. The police officers are creating problems for us and giving favour to my brother Malik Muhammad Yar Langrial to usurp the rights of the poor. Nobody is listening to our request, therefore, we have come to Islamabad to seek help from he Chief Justice.

He demanded check and balance on the police of the district Vehari and strict action against them.
